After months of patiently waiting and hoping... The New Yorker iPad app has finally arrived! It even includes a great intro video:
Ordinarily at this point I would talk about my likes and dislikes about the app, and my opinions about it as a librarian. But, I can't. Why, you ask? Well, I downloaded it on Monday morning (when it came out) and I discovered much to my chagrin that even though I am a subscriber to the magazine (and have been for almost three years now), you have to pay 5 dollars per issue. To this I said, "no."
So, there is no review. The New Yorker will remain a print-only item for me. Perhaps they will change this policy at some point. And rather than me ranting about why this is not acceptable (it seems that the vast majority of readers are subscribers to this periodical) I am just going to hope someone at The New Yorker reads this and takes note.
The video is fantastic! Too bad it's so expensive.
