It's Chinati: The Vision of Donald Judd, by Marianne Stockebrand. So how did this book make it to no. 4?
Well, in March of 2010 Jen took me on a trip to Marfa for my birthday, which was absolutely wonderful. We had a great time, and for the first time, I really felt that I understood the work of Donald Judd. Of course, it's hard not to feel something when you are standing in those incredible artillery sheds at Chinati. Interestingly enough, this book was a surprise from my wife as well. Beyond the sentimental reasons, Stockebrand's illuminating history of Donald Judd's vision for Chinati was phenomenal, as well as the wonderful illustrations (and details) about their collection. Very cool!
Check in for no. 3 tomorrow!
