Well, first, U-Verse arrived - so we now have a properly working TV, with DVR capability. I don't think I need to delve into that any farther, but it's quite a distraction. We have a few new favorite shows as well - An Idiot Abroad, Portlandia, and Eastbound & Down.
Second, Jen and I have started watching Simon Schama's matchless series, A History of Britain, which is wonderful to see again. It was "lost" in storage until we unboxed it and decided to watch it. It's better than I remember!
Third, while I have been adjusting to a full-time job, I am so tired when I get home for work that I rarely have the energy I need to read well. I could just look at the words on the page, but I need more energy so I can focus on what I am reading. And, to me, this book is especially important, as it's the first volume of the two volume set of Abraham Lincoln's speeches and writings.
Finally, seating. We have been without a couch for a long while, so I have been reading on the floor, in the bed, or in the chairs in our bedroom However, these have been less than optimal - until we got this chair:
Yes, it's bent plywood, but it's among the most comfortable chairs I have ever sat in. I suppose that shouldn't be surprising, due to its design history. This is my new favorite chairs in the house - but I am excited to get our couch, finally - no more sitting on the floor!
So, I commit to you that I will read more this week. Right now, I am on page 205 - I'll write more next week and let you know how I did!
