Grade Expectations

When I was a teacher, I often heard the statements that they should get a better grade because of circumstances other than those on which the assignment was graded. “I was up late,” “I worked hard,” et cetera. It seems that we have on our hands now a youth group that feels like they should get a good grade for even trying, and this is a failure on many levels, but most of all on the student’s level.
